The weather for our 2020 Graeme Brown Gravel Cross event was bittersweet.
The conditions were not conducive to the usual throng of spectators who normally enjoy the family-friendly event and add to the atmosphere of night racing, but our riders were rewarded with great CX conditions and an unexpected mudfest! The course builders were also happy to not be setting up in the extreme heat they were faced with in 2019. 24 hardcore lil’ CX’ers braved the worst conditions of the entire evening in the U9 & U13 race – motivated by the chupa-chup at the finish line and the promise of hot chips from their parents.
This event has the inclusion of a Hot Mile event as well as a one lap CX Showdown event. The normal CX race was once again made interesting with the inclusion of a Le Mans style start.
Thanks to all riders for supporting the event when the lure of the couch on a wet Saturday evening was strong.
A bigger thanks to the event sponsors – Graeme Brown , Nader El Sayed from Multiplant, Darrell Slater from Slater Air, Kerri Fennell from Project Artichoke and Travis Meyer from Finance Detective.
Bikes can now get their final clean and service in preparation for next season.
WACX, over and out – see you in 2021!
