Membership and Licencing

Updated: 18 March 2023

We’re here to answer all your questions about memberships and licencing when it comes to racing with WACX. If you have any further questions, contact us.

Do I need a membership/licence to race with WACX?

Yes. All riders (including kids) entering WACX races need to have a valid AusCycling racing membership/licence. When racing, your licence protects you with third-party public liability and personal accident insurance. Read more about the specific insurance protections offered under AusCycling licences.

What is AusCycling?

On 1 November 2020, a national governing body called AusCycling was formed from the merging of the three big national cycling sporting organisations; Cycling Australia, Mountain Bike Australia (MTBA) and BMX Australia. So, now you can now get a single membership/licence that will cover you for cyclocross, mountain bike, gravel, road, track and BMX racing.

How do I become a WACX member?

You may be surprised to hear that WACX is itself not a club. We operate under the umbrella of Perth Mountain Bike Club (PMBC). As such, we encourage all riders to join PMBC to support the club. When you purchase an AusCycling membership/licence, you will be required to select a club to join. Naturally, we recommend joining PMBC!

How do I get an AusCycling membership/licence?

Racing in any cycling discipline has become a lot easier because all major cycling disciplines, including cyclocross, mountain bike, gravel, road, track and BMX are now encompassed under the AusCycling umbrella. AusCycling memberships/licences last for 12-months from the date of purchase and monthly payment options are available. Prices below do not include the $20 club fee to support club activities. This club fee is waived for Under 13 and younger riders. WACX encourages riders to join Perth Mountain Bike Club (PMBC) as our races are held under the PMBC banner.

If you know which membership/licence you need, visit the AusCycling website to sign up.

If you need to renew your existing AusCycling membership, simply login to the AusCycling membership administration platform.

Make sure you download your digital membership card to your phone so you can show the friendly WACX volunteers at the event registration tent each day you race. You will also need your race licence information handy when you register online for WACX races via the EntryBoss race entry platform.
