It’s Ladies Day! And what a fantastic day it’s going to be!
WACX is supported by so many incredible women. We want to acknowledge and celebrate female participation and competition in our amazing sport by getting 50 ladies on the start line at round 4 of the Liquor Barons Numbat Cup Series! And we’re going to need your help to do it.
We want you to encourage all the ladies in your life to participate in our next cyclocross event on Sunday 23 June 2024. Whether a total newbie to cycling or seasoned racer from another cycling discipline, we’ve got a category to suit everyone!
How to register
All riders need to pre-register to race and participate. You can enter here. Entries close 5pm, Wednesday 19 June 2024.
Ladies Day celebrations
It’s not Ladies Day without a celebratory bottle of bubbly. So all ladies who pin a number on and give the racing a go will have a glass of bubbly waiting for them at the finish line. We’ll also have non-alcoholic bubbly and even some delicious cold brew from our friends at Twin Peaks Coffee Roasters for those who’d like an alternative thirst quencher after their race.
Ladies Day is known for its Fashions on the Field. And Ladies Day at WACX is no different! We encourage all the ladies to dress up in their most outrageous and colourful outfits to celebrate. In past WACX Ladies Days, we’ve seen everything from super hero costumes to tutus! A special prize will be given to our best dressed lady on the day, so bring out the bling and show us what you’ve got!
Ladies cyclocross skills session
Getting into a new sport can be daunting. But it doesn’t need to be. Bronze medallist at the 2024 U23 National CX Championships, Zoe Davison, has kindly offered to run a skills session for our female riders.
Zoe will take riders through the basic principles of cyclocross racing and run through some core skills and tips that will help you enjoy your time out on course.
The session will be at 11:30am, just prior to the start of the day’s racing. Please register your interest in attending the session via the form below.
What bike can be used?
For the ladies who have a cyclocross bike with 33mm width tyres, they’re able to enter the following categories depending on fitness levels:
- Women’s C
- Women’s B
- Women’s Masters A (40+ years)
- Women’s Elite
For those who don’t have a dedicated cyclocross bike but would like to give ‘cross a go, we have the ‘Women’s Open’ category. You can ride any bike you like. Mountain bikes, hybrids, gravel bikes and anything in between.
And if you know someone who might want to give it a go but doesn’t have a bike, we’ve got members of the WACX community who are willing to lend a bike to help get more ladies on the start line. If you need a bike, just get in touch.
Do I need a racing licence?
All riders need to have a valid AusCycling membership to enter WACX races.
If you’ve already got either a ‘Race – All Discipline’ or ‘Race – Off Road’ AusCycling membership, you’re all good. Just register for the race here.
If you don’t have a membership (and you haven’t held an AusCycling membership for the past 3 years), you can get a 4-week free trial membership. You can get that here.
Alternatively, you can get an Event Licence, otherwise known as a ‘day licence’. This will provide the race licence just for the day. You can get that here.
