Can we go out and play yet?

2020 has been a testing year for a lot of people. And while Australia, and in particular Western Australia, has so far escaped the worst impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, there is some way to go before we see a sense of normality returning.

As of 6 June 2020, Western Australia entered Phase 3 of WA’s COVID-19 Roadmap. This phase saw a reopening of some community sport, along with an increase to the number of people that can gather in one area.

With this in mind, WACX has very tentatively put together a schedule of racing for the coming months, with 6 races to take place between July and October 2020.

Please be aware that none of the following races are guaranteed at this stage as we are still in the process of gaining permission from landowners and councils before we can lock any events in. But, if all goes to plan, cyclocross racing in Western Australia will get underway on Sunday 19 July 2020 at Guildford Meadows. This will be followed by racing on Sunday 2 August at the Helena Valley course that was used for last year’s State Championships, followed by Speedshop SuperCross under lights at Claremont Showgrounds on Saturday 15 August.

Racing will then visit the spiritual home of cyclocross in Perth, Garvey Park, on Sunday 30 August. Then on Saturday 17 October, we’re packing an overnight bag as racing heads to the Wheatbelt town of Beverley. And the season will be rounded out with the annual Graeme Brown Gravel Cross at Gloucester Park.

We will do our best to keep you updated as we work to confirm our race venues for 2020. To ensure you’re kept in the loop:
