WACX at the 2025 National Champs

The highs, the lows and everything in between. The 2025 AusCycling Cyclo-cross National Championships in Ballarat were everything cyclocross is meant to be – muddy, emotional, unpredictable and unforgettable.

For WACX, it was a weekend that we gave our all. WACX came away with six green and gold jerseys, six podium places, and memories we’ll carry forever. But alongside the celebrations were the hard lessons, the disappointment of races that didn’t go to plan, and the quiet heartbreak of coming so close to victory. Relive the excitement of the race weekend by checking out the results from Saturday’s National Championships and Sunday’s National Series race and UCI C2 race. And check out the amazing snaps from photographer Cassidy Captured.

When everything clicks in a cyclocross race, it’s magic. Some of that magic is the feeling of seeing WACX riders cross the line with arms raised, hearing the cheers of friends and family and celebrating national titles. These are the moments of why we train and why we love racing. These moments remind us that the hard work and sacrifices made are all worth it. Especially when we can celebrate with friends and family.

But it doesn’t always go your way. Some of our riders faced crashes (and hospital visits), mechanicals or simply didn’t have the day they hoped and trained for. For them, the weekend was tough, but it was also a chance to dig deep, to learn and to remember that one race doesn’t define you or who you are as a rider.

And the rest found themselves somewhere in between, whilst proud of how they raced, they wished for a little more, but made them hungrier for the next one. That mix of satisfaction and drive is what keeps the fire burning.

WACX community
What stood out most wasn’t just the jerseys we won, but the way we won them. WACX showed up in force. On the sidelines, our cheers were the loudest. On course, we backed each other. Off the bike, we shared stories and laughs (and tears) that will be remembered for a lifetime.

Whether it was a weekend of triumph or one of struggle, we did it together. That’s what makes WACX special.

Looking ahead
Nationals reminded us that success comes in many forms – results, resilience, friendship, and being part of something bigger than yourself. We’ll take the wins, we’ll take the lessons, and we’ll carry them forward into next season.

For now, we celebrate! And remember that at the heart of it all is the WACX family – muddy, noisy, supportive, and unstoppable.

Celebrate with us
See you at Otherside of Nowhere at 6pm on Saturday 30 August to celebrate the end of the 2025 WACX season. It’s a great opportunity to grab a bite to eat and have a few celebratory drinks. We’ll also be making a toast to our Cross Bosses Stuart and Louise Carson after the huge amount of volunteering over the past 10 years.
