The annual WACX Ladies’ Day celebrations did not disappoint as the ladies of WACX came out in force. Ladies’ Day shines a light on female participation and competition in cyclocross, so it was exciting to see 39 ladies giving cyclocross racing a go, many for the very first time. And with another 15 girls taking to the course in the Little Crossers kids event, the future is looking bright.
We’d like to thanks Zoe Davison for hosting a skills session for the ladies prior to the first wave of racing. First-time riders appreciated being given tips on how to negotiate a cyclocross course by one of Australia’s most experienced CX racers.
With over 200 riders taking to the course throughout the day, a huge thanks goes out to the volunteers of WACX who ensured every spectator, supporter and rider enjoyed their day out.
Today’s short and twisting course was a real challenge for all riders especially the steep off-camber descent and climbs. The heckles and cheers from the spectators on this section of course motivated all the riders to test themselves and push to the limit.
There’s only two races remaining in the 2026 WACX season.
